When Pipe Replacement is Necessary?

  1. When a pipe replacement becomes necessary at home, you may be wondering what went wrong. It can seem random, but what is the reason your house needs repiping in the first place? Simple, plumbing pipes despite being built to last for a long time are not invincible. If your house has old plumbing, or you’ve lived in your home long enough, you will certainly have to replace sections or the entire pipe at some point.
  2.
  3. Let’s have a look at some problems that could lead to having to replace a home’s plumbing pipes.
  • Plumbing Problem That Could Lead to Pipe Replacement

  1. CRUMBLING PIPE
  2.
  3. Pipes are supposed to stand years of use, but those years of use can also progressively take a toll on your plumbing, causing different kinds of problems until they can no longer hold up and fall apart. How plumbing works is not rocket science. They do a lot of work daily, from trying to keep up with the entire household’s demand for freshwater to managing the numerous flushing instances you and your family do. Now if you can imagine how many times you use your plumbing each day for the entire year, that’s also the number of times your plumbing tries to manage the stress it receives. Not to mention the daily beatings they endure when you don’t watch what you flush down the drains. So it just makes sense at a certain point, some parts, sections, or the entire system will give up.
  4.
  5. Unfortunately, there’s nothing much you can do with a crumbling pipe. Once they reach this point, they can no longer operate at an optimum level. Therefore, even if you’re not looking at replacing your pipes right now, if your budget allows, consider replacing them.
  6.
  7. BROKEN PIPE
  8.
  9. Broken pipes can be caused by extreme weather conditions, corrosion, tree root penetration, and even a blatant disregard of minor pipe problems. Other times improper installation are also to blame.
  10.
  11. Inside the house, this problem may be easy to detect, but broken sewer pipes under concrete can be more difficult to spot but they can be just as damaging, particularly in areas with weak soil. The good thing is, broken pipes can be fixed by pipe relining the affected areas, but the process of repeatedly fixing the broken part will not guarantee that other weak sections of the pipe will still hold up. Not replacing the entire pipe can over time result in damage to the integrity of the entire plumbing system. Leaving your pipes at risk for pipe collapse. So it’s best to just replace the pipe entirely when it reaches this point.
  12.
  13. If your home has aging plumbing or it has already gone past its expected service life, you should be aware that they are more vulnerable to this problem and a professional’s intervention is highly recommended. Our team at Revolution Pipe Relining can run a camera through the pipe to check for damaged sections and provide you with the best options to fix this problem.
  14.
  15. TREE ROOT INTRUSION
  16.
  17. Why the sprawling trees in your front yard can put your pipes at risk of repiping? Trees just don’t make good friends with sewer lines. By nature, they send their roots down into the ground, where they take on water and other nutrients. If your sewer pipe happens to have breaks or even small gaps, they will find it. This process may be slow but extremely damaging. Over time, an advancing root can make any piping material’s structural integrity become weak. If this happens, your pipes will break, crack open, or collapse. Depending on the severity of the damage, these problems can call for immediate underground pipe replacement.
  18.
  19. BURST PIPE
  20.
  21. Pipes burst for a range of reasons, from the weather to environmental changes, to physical strains, and more. On numerous occasions, pipes will burst when the temperature of the water running through them drops down to around 0 degrees Fahrenheit. Clogs are also another reason for bursting pipes. When a clog occurs in your pipe, it can cause excessive pressure to build up within those pipes. At a certain point, this pressure will become too much for the pipe to bear to the extent that it will crack. In some cases, particularly when they’re made out of steel materials, your pipes will crumble, have limited space to allow the water through, and slowly burst open.
  22.
  23. There’s not much you can do with burst pipes because oftentimes, they go undetected unless the pipes are exposed. What would help is to get a professional plumber to inspect the pipe for weak points and fix them before it’s too late.
  24.
  25. FREQUENT LEAKS
  26.
  27. Leaks are a sure sign that your pipes are old and worn and need to be replaced. Rather than having to continually repair them, where there’s no guarantee that other weak sections of the pipe will still hold up, replacing the pipe will be the most sensible.
  28.
  29. Random pipe leaks may be expected from time to time in your home, but if pipe leaks have become a frequent occurrence in your home, your pipes are likely ready to be replaced. You may have not thought of it but the cost you pay in replacing pipes in your house will pay off in the future because you can save yourself from the stress and cost of having to pay for repeated repairs.

What should you do?

Homeowners are always going to face plumbing issues. It’s par for the course. But sometimes, a simple repair isn’t enough — you need to have your entire home repiped at a certain point. Replacing pipes in house may sound like a huge and costly job, but you don’t need to cringe at the idea. At the end of the day, what matters is you have a good working plumbing that is able to stand years of use again.

When you’re ready to know what involves this project or the pipe replacement cost, our team at Revolution Pipe Relining can explain everything to you in detail.
